The price is the U.S. Energy Information Administration’s weekly retail survey of regular gasoline, all formulations, dollars per gallon including taxes, collected each Monday. EIA publishes state series for nine states; District of Columbia is not one of them, so the figure above is the Central Atlantic (PADD 1B) average. A year-ago figure is the survey week fifty-two weeks earlier. EIA data are in the public domain. A PADD is a Petroleum Administration for Defense District, one of the five regions (the East Coast split in three) EIA has grouped fuel statistics by since 1942.
