How many Texas electricity plans only look cheap at exactly 1,000 kWh
100 of 1,844 listings on the Texas Power to Choose board — 5.4% — advertise a price at 1,000 kWh that is more than 25% below both their 500 kWh and 2,000 kWh price. That is the shape of a plan built around a usage-triggered bill credit: the headline rate applies at one level of consumption and nowhere else.
Counted today, 2026-09-17. The threshold is ours and we publish it so you can disagree with it; the prices are the providers’ own postings to the state board. This is a fact about how the plans are priced, not an accusation about anyone’s motives.
